Social media criticises Netrakona’s new DC over allegations

Ashad Talukder, Netrokona

A wave of criticism has emerged on social media following allegations of corruption and irregularities linked to Netrakona's newly appointed Deputy Commissioner, Banani Biswas. The uproar began after reports surfaced about her previous workplace, prompting various reactions from netizens and local journalists.
On Sunday, September 15, several senior journalists chose to abstain from a photo session with Deputy Commissioner Biswas. One journalist cited the need for Biswas to address and clarify the allegations against her before participating in any formal engagements.
Social media has been abuzz with diverse opinions from university students, lawyers, journalists, and businessmen. Ahad Khan questioned the pervasive corruption and greed, urging for transparency and accountability. Md. Habil Uddin expressed a neutral stance, acknowledging Biswas as a new figure in the position. Rajan criticized the arrogance of some educated individuals, while Mohammad Ullah humorously predicted continued administrative issues in Netrakona.
ABM Julhas decried the entrenched corruption within the bureaucracy, emphasizing the need for accountability. Antar Majumdar offered best wishes, while Shafiq Talukdar expressed hope that bureaucrats could reform the nation. Ferdous Babul highlighted the importance of transparency and clarity in interviews with local journalists.
In contrast, Mohammad Sanjid Ahmed Sajib called for a student-led movement against corruption, and Ashiqur Rahman cynically noted that true purity is rare in the world. Hafsa Islam Moh lamented the general dishonor for deserving individuals.
In light of these reactions, there is a strong expectation within the district's conscious society for the authorities to conduct a thorough investigation and take appropriate action based on the findings.
