The Gorgram Union BNP held a press conference today at Kittarnia Para High School ground to address and counteract what they claim are false and malicious reports being circulated about their activities. The event, led by Gorgram Union BNP President Dipu Siddiqui, aimed to refute accusations and clarify the party's stance on recent controversies.
At the press conference, Dipu Siddiqui vehemently denied allegations published in online media suggesting that the Gorgram Union BNP had engaged in corrupt practices. The reports claimed that Union BNP leaders and activists had been involved in facilitating the entry of certain individuals into the council in exchange for Tk 10 lakh, allegedly for Gorgram Union Parishad Chairman Mahbub George of Sadar Upazila. Siddiqui described these allegations as "completely false and baseless," asserting that the Gorgram Union BNP has no connection with Chairman Mahbub George, who was elected without a vote of the boat.
Siddiqui explained that the students, not BNP members, were responsible for locking and subsequently opening the chairman's room. He clarified that the students had acted to ensure the chairman would not commit further irregularities and corruption. Siddiqui further challenged anyone spreading misinformation by offering to resign voluntarily if the accusations against the party could be substantiated.
Addressing the issue of who might be behind the false propaganda, Siddiqui refrained from naming specific individuals but indicated that some leaders within their own Union BNP were involved in spreading these falsehoods to serve their personal interests. He called on district leaders to take action against those responsible for the misleading information.
The press conference was attended by several notable figures, including former Gorgram Union BNP President Abdul Quader, Amiruzzaman Sahib, former convenor Mozaffar Hossain, Sadar Upazila Fishermen's Party President Sarwardi Hossain Bulbul, and Union BNP's freedom fighter affairs secretary Shahidul Islam. Representatives from various print and electronic media outlets were also present.
The Gorgram Union BNP's response underscores their commitment to combating what they perceive as unjust attacks on their integrity and political standing. The party remains resolute in its call for accountability and transparency regarding the recent allegations.
