Duke new MD of Dhaka Telephone

Mustafa Rafiqul Islam Duke has been appointed as the managing director of privately owned land phone Dhaka Telephone Company Limited (DTCL). At the same time, ATM Hayatuzzaman Khan became the chairman of the company. On Monday (November 4), the company's board of directors decided to appoint a new MD and chairman. This appointment will bring Dhaka Phone, the company's main business, to the light of day. Mustafa Rafiqul Islam Duke said, we will actively work to lower both voice and internet prices according to consumer needs. The company announced this information in a press release on Tuesday.

Dhaka Phone started operations in the Chittagong and Sylhet zones in 2006 and in the capital, Dhaka, in 2007 as the first private-sector fixed-line operator.

Mustafa Rafiqul Islam Duke was the director of Dhaka Telephone Company Limited from its inception. He holds BSc and MSc in Computer Science from Purdue University, USA. After that, he worked at GE Capital and Computerland in California, USA. Since 1997, Mustafa Rafiqul Islam has been managing Flora Telecom and Flora Systems, the country's largest IT and software company. After establishing Flora Systems, he developed the core banking application software "Flora Bank" which is widely recognized in the banking sector of Bangladesh. It is being used in 2 thousand 255 branches of Bangladesh Krishi Bank, Jamuna Bank, Mutual Trust Bank, National Credit and Commerce Bank, Midland Bank, The Trust Bank, Shimanto Bank, South Bangla Agriculture and Commerce Bank.

He was successfully involved in the Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS), the country's software and information technology service sector organization, in the first term (year 2002) as finance secretary and in the second term (year 2004) as general secretary. It was under his leadership that the country's first software incubator was set up in the BASIS BDBL building, and he was the convener of the country's first BASIS SoftExpo. He has led Bangladesh in software and IT services export exhibitions at ComdexFall held in the USA four times. He was instrumental in drafting the country's first National ICT Policy with FBCCI.
