Husband Kills Wife in Narayanganj

In a tragic incident in the Araihazar upazila of Narayanganj district, a husband fatally stabbed his wife following a heated argument. The heart-wrenching event occurred on Wednesday (April 23) afternoon in Narandi village under the Haizadi Union of the upazila. The information was confirmed by Enayet Hossain, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Araihazar Police Station.

The victim, Sulekha Akter (45), was a resident of Narandi village and the daughter of Abdul from Nayapara in Kolagachhia. According to family sources, she was married about twenty years ago to Rob Mia, son of the late Chandu Mia of the same village. The couple had four daughters.

According to locals, Rob Mia was once involved in the clothing business, and the family led a normal life. However, in recent years, he became mentally unstable. On the day of the incident, a fierce argument broke out between the couple around noon. At one point, Rob Mia grabbed a knife and fatally stabbed Sulekha in the neck inside their home. After the incident, he was seen sitting inside the house with the blood-stained knife in hand. Enraged and heartbroken villagers captured him and beat him up.

OC Enayet Hossain of Araihazar Police Station said, "We rescued the killer husband from the locals and have taken him into police custody. The victim's body has been sent to the Narayanganj General (Victoria) Hospital morgue. A murder case is currently under process."
