In keeping with Saudi Arabia and other Middle Eastern countries, several villages in Chandpur and Faridpur districts will celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr on Sunday a day ahead of the national observance.
In Chandpur, at least 40 villages, including Sadra Darbar Sharif in Hajiganj Upazila, will mark the festival.
The announcement was confirmed by Pirzada Mufti Arif Chowdhury of Sadra Darbar Sharif on Saturday night.
Mufti Arif Chowdhury stated that their observance follows Quranic and Hadith principles, relying on moon sightings rather than any single country’s decision.
The first Eid congregation will be held at Sadra Darbar Sharif at 9:00 am, led by Mufti Zakaria Chowdhury, followed by another at Sadra Hamidia Fazil Madrasa at 9:30 am.
Similarly, in Faridpur’s Boalmari upazila, 10 villages in Shekhar and Rupapat unions will also celebrate Eid on Sunday.
Followers of Chattogram’s Mirzakhil Darbar Sharif, who began fasting a day earlier, will offer prayers at three major congregations, including Sahasrail Daira Sharif.
These communities have been observing Eid and Ramadan in sync with Saudi Arabia since 1928, as initiated by the late Maulana Ishaq.
