A daring robbery took place at a garment factory named Al Fahad Trade Lines in the Bandar Upazila of Narayanganj. The robbery occurred at dawn on Wednesday (March 12) in the Dewanbagh area of Madanpur Union Parishad. A masked gang of robbers looted cash worth 1.3 million BDT along with goods totaling 2.2 million BDT.
Upon receiving the news, Additional Superintendent of Police (ka- Circle) Asif Imam visited the crime scene and assured swift action to arrest the culprits involved in the robbery.
According to storekeeper Abdul Hannan, around 4:30 AM, a gang of 10-12 masked robbers entered the factory through the back door, holding the security guards at gunpoint. They tied up the guards and disabled the CCTV cameras and machinery, taking control of the premises. The robbers then broke into the vault, lockers, and desk drawers, seizing 1.32 million BDT in cash, three computers, a CCTV monitor, a storage machine, a generator, six mobile phones, a cow worth 400,000 BDT, and various tools, totaling 2.2 million BDT.
Managing Director Abdul Mannan Mia expressed frustration and anger at the law enforcement agencies, stating that on July 3 last year, a similar robbery took place at the same factory, resulting in the looting of goods worth over 2 million BDT. The recurrence of such incidents has raised concerns about security and law enforcement effectiveness.
