
Information and Broadcasting Adviser Mohammad Mahfuj Alam on Wednesday said that Bangladesh Betar [Radio] continues to be one of the major sources of information, education and entertainment for people.
"Betar programmes must be updated according to the needs of the listeners," the adviser said at a meeting with its officials in Agargaon.
Regarding the preservation of old programmes, he highlighted the necessity of digitally archiving those in a catalogue format and emphasised the need for rebroadcasting them. "Old programmes should also be rebroadcast considering the needs of listeners."
The adviser stressed the importance of developing a specific action plan to improve the quality of the programmes and called upon officials, artistes and technicians to make Betar relevant to the younger generation.
Director General of Bangladesh Betar ASM Zahid, Additional Director-General (Programs) Md Anwar Hossain Mridha, Chief Eng Munir Ahmad, among others, attended the meeting.
