Three people, including a mother and her son, have died in a collisionbetween a bus and a battery-operated auto rickshaw on the Dhaka-Chittagong highway in Sonargaon, Narayanganj.
The victims have been identified as Kakoli (35), wife of Ashraful Alam from Sunamganj, Gaibandha; her son Arian Ahmed Rafi (5); and the autorickshaw driver Anisur Rahman (23), son of Abdul Wahab from Pirgacha, Rangpur. The tragic accident occurred on Friday (February 7) at around 5:30 PM in Kanchpur.
According to eyewitnesses, the accident happened when a speeding bus, traveling in the Dhaka-bound lane, collided with the autorickshaw, which was moving in the wrong direction. As a result, the mother, her son, and the autorickshaw driver died on the spot.
Confirming the incident, Kazi Wahid Morshed, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kanchpur Highway Police, stated that the bodies had been recovered. The bus was seized, but the driver managed to flee. Legal proceedings regarding the incident are currently underway.
