Former Minister Golam Dastagir Gazi Placed on 3 Day Remand

A court has granted a three-day remand for former Textile and Jute Minister Golam Dastagir Gazi in connection with the murder of school student Roman in Rupganj, Narayanganj.

In the afternoon, the Narayanganj Senior Judicial Magistrate Haidar Ali's court approved the remand after the district Detective Branch (DB) police presented Gazi with a seven-day remand plea. Following arguments from both sides' lawyers, the court decided on a three-day remand.

Advocate Sakhawat Hossain, former president of the Narayanganj District Lawyers' Association and convener of the Metropolitan BNP, stated that Roman was shot and killed during an anti-discrimination student protest in Rupganj. In connection with this case, the district DB police sought a seven-day remand for Gazi, but the court approved three days.

It is worth mentioning that Golam Dastagir Gazi, the former Minister of Textile and Jute, has been taken into remand and questioned by the police multiple times in the past.
