College Student Injured in N’ganj by Muggers’ Knife Attack

A college student, Simanta (20), was seriously injured in a knife attack by muggers in Deobhog, Narayanganj, on his way to college.

Simanta, a second-year honors student at the American International University-Bangladesh, was attacked around 6 a.m. on Thursday (December 12) near the Minnat Ali Shrine in Deobhog. Simanta is the son of Haji Alam, a resident of the Deobhog Pakkar Road area.

According to Haji Alam, as Simanta was heading to college, muggers intercepted him near Minnat Ali Shrine and attempted to snatch his bag and mobile phone. When he resisted, they stabbed him in the head, abdomen, and legs, leaving him seriously injured. Family members reported that Simanta was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital in critical condition.

“We have already contacted the officer-in-charge (OC) of Sadar Police Station and plan to file a case regarding the incident,” said Simanta’s father.

Narayanganj Sadar Model Police Station OC, Md. Nasir, told the media, “Upon being informed, we sent officers to the scene. We are investigating the matter and conducting operations to arrest those involved.”
