A devastating fire engulfed eight shops in Fatullah, Narayanganj, late Wednesday night. The fire broke out near a sweet shop in Bholaile.
Upon receiving the news, three units from the Fatullah Fire Station rushed to the scene and managed to bring the fire under control by 2:50 AM after an hour-long effort. However, by that time, most of the goods in the shops had already been destroyed.
The affected shops included a vegetable store, a grocery store, tea stalls, and a small hotel.
Local businessman Sakib Haque stated, "The fire started around 1:50 AM. Initially, we locals tried to control it, but later, three fire service units took over. Unfortunately, the fire completely destroyed eight shops, including vegetable and grocery stores, tea stalls, and a hotel."
Abdullah Al Arefin, Deputy Assistant Director of the Narayanganj Fire Service and Civil Defense, confirmed that the fire originated from an electrical short circuit.
He added, "Our three units from the Fatullah station managed to control the fire within an hour. The fire caused damages worth approximately 11 lakh taka, but we were able to save goods worth around 16 lakh taka"
