Stop propaganda against Bangladesh

The Bangladesh Hindu, Buddhist, Christian Welfare Front has demanded the media and religiously motivated political groups in India refrain from spreading false propaganda against Bangladesh.

In a press conference held at the National Press Club's Zahur Hossain Chowdhury Hall on Thursday, the organization's Chairman Bijan Kanti Sarker said that Hindus, Buddhists, and Christians in Bangladesh have been subjected to various forms of oppression and humiliation during the rule of the Awami League.

However, under the current government, they are living peacefully with equal rights, he added.

He mentioned that during the Awami League's rule, minorities and even Muslims with differing views faced various forms of persecution. They appeased Delhi for power while simultaneously persecuting Hindus in the country.

“Most of the properties of minorities are illegally occupied by Awami League activists. They led 98% of the temple destruction and atrocities against women. Awami League men were responsible for burning down temples in Bangladesh, and even under the leadership and instigation of Awami League MPs, Hindu homes were torched. However, under the influence of power, the media propagated false information against Jamaat-BNP activists,” he added.

Bijan Kanti Sarker said that the Awami League has never taken action or pursued justice against any oppression or land grab.

He further mentioned that a section of the Indian populace has been misled by Awami League propaganda, turning the true friend, the people of Bangladesh, into an enemy.

During the event, the organization presented a five-point demand. Their demands are:

  1. India’s media and religiously motivated political groups must be prevented from spreading propaganda against Bangladesh.
  2. Relations with neighboring countries should be based on humanity, not on religion, caste, or ethnicity.
  3. Both Bangladesh and India are independent and sovereign nations. Mutual independence and sovereignty must be safeguarded and respected.
  4. The Indian government should refrain from showing undue favoritism towards any specific party or ideology in Bangladesh.
  5. All tactics of Indian communal extremists aimed at disrupting the unity of the people of Bangladesh must be stopped.
