Protesters won’t face case, arrest over July uprising: Home ministry

No cases will be filed, over any incident during the July-August uprising, against those who were involved in the student-led movement that led to the fall of the previous dictatorial fascist government, the Ministry of Home Affairs said today (14 October).

Students and mass people who had actively worked to make the mass uprising a success from 15 July to 8 August will not be arrested or harassed either, according to a media statement from the ministry.

The statement said that a new journey to build a new Bangladesh free of discrimination began on 5 August after the fall of the dictatorial fascist government through the student-led mass uprising.

Saying those involved in the upsurge will not be sued, arrested or harassed, the home ministry ordered the authorities concerned to remain highly vigilant in this regard.

Officials concerned have also been warned against people trying to take any advantage by providing false information in this regard, added the statement.
