Shyamol Dutta remanded for 7 days in murder case

A court here today placed "Bhorer Kagoj" editor Shyamal Dutta on seven days remand in a case filled with Bhashantek Police Station over killing Md Fazlu during a victory rally after fall of Sheikh Hasina on August 5.

Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Md Sanaullah passed the order accepting a remand plea from investigation officer of the case Inspector Mohammad Shaidul.

On September 11, the victim's brother Md Sabuj filed the murder case against Sheikh Hasina and 165 others. According to the case statement, Fazlu was killed while taking part in a rally near Bhasantek Thana area after downfall of ex-prime minister Sheikh Hasina.

Earlier, around 6am on Monday, Dutta along with journalist Mozammel Haque were caught by locals from Dakshin Maizpara and Porakandulia border area in Dhobaura upazila of Mymensingh District.

Later, the duo was handed over to the Dhobaura Police Station.
