Murder case filed against Cumilla’s ex-MP, mayor

A case has been filed against former Colilla-6 MP AKM Bahauddin Bahar and his daughter, Comilla City Corporation Mayor Tahseen Bahar Suchona, over the murder of Masum Mia, 20, during the recent student protests in Comilla’s Kotbari area.

Abdul Hannan, a resident of the Dishaband area, filed the case on Sunday night, Sadar Dakshin model police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Alamgir Bhuiya confirmed.

At least 62 were named and 400 unidentified persons were accused in the case.

According to the case statement, on August 4, Masum Mia was killed during a clash between students and the Awami League and its affiliated organizations’ activists in Nandanpur on Kotbari Biswa Road. 

Initially, he was buried as an unclaimed body. Later, his family identified him through social media. 

All the accused in the case are close to Bahar and are leaders of the Awami League, Jubo League, Chhatra League, and Swechchhasebak League.
