A fire has broken out at Gausul Azam Super Market, located in the capital’s Nilkhet area. Fire service sources say they received a tip off about the fire around 4:30pm on Saturday afternoon.

Fire service control room Duty Officer Ershad Hossain said, “We received information around 4:30pm that the Gausul Azam Super Market has caught fire. Two units of the fire service are currently working to tame the blaze.

“We cannot say at this time what caused the fire, or the amount of damage in the market.”

Earlier on Thursday, a fire at Green Cozy Cottage, located in the city’s Baily Road, claimed the lives of at least 46 people, while 20 victims remain hospitalised. The injured victims are in critical condition.
