Narayanganj DC Stands Beside Special Children

On the 18th World Autism Awareness Day, Narayanganj was filled with a message of empathy: “They are different, but just like us.” A colorful rally, discussion meeting, and wheelchair distribution program for individuals with special needs were organized by the district administration.

On Monday, April 22, an emotional atmosphere developed in the premises of the Deputy Commissioner’s Office. Chief Guest Md. Zahidul Islam Mia, the Deputy Commissioner, expressed heartfelt thoughts on the responsibility and compassion society owes to special children.

“They are in no way a burden to society,” said the DC. “There is light of potential in them too. It is our responsibility to stand by them and create a path for their growth through support and solidarity.”

He added, “Just as the sun is meaningless without its warmth, a society without humanity is worthless. We must bring change through compassion.”

The rally began at the DC’s office and marched through the main streets of the city. Participants included ADC (General) Md. Alomgir Hossain, ADC (Development) Md. Abdul Wareth Ansari, Deputy Director of the Department of Social Services Md. Asaduzzaman Sardar, government officials, NGO members, teachers, students, and families of children with autism.

After the discussion session, wheelchairs were distributed to 10 individuals with autism and physical disabilities in the DC office compound. The Deputy Commissioner personally handed over the assistive devices, and many in the audience were seen wiping away tears.

“These children are assets to society. If we stand by them and provide proper opportunities, they too can contribute to the country’s development,” said the DC. He urged the wealthy and conscious citizens of society to support children with autism.

This event was not just ceremonial, but a message of humanity—diversity is beauty, and empathy is the true foundation of progress.
