Renowned freedom fighter and former army officer Md. Sirajul Haque, a resident of Tatipara, Deobhog, Narayanganj, has passed away. He experienced severe chest pain on Sunday night and was rushed to Islam Heart Center in Narayanganj, where he took his last breath.
He was 72 years old at the time of his passing. He leaves behind his wife, three sons, one daughter, and many well-wishers.
His funeral, with full state honors, was held on Monday (February 3rd) after the Zuhr prayer at Beparipara, West Deobhog, Narayanganj. Following the Guard of Honor, he was laid to rest at Pikepara Central Cemetery after a prayer service at Nirala Baitul Aman Jame Mosque, Adarsha Gram.
Officials present at the funeral included Assistant Commissioner (Land) of Fatullah Revenue Circle, Mohammad Asaduzzaman Noor, along with local freedom fighters and officers from Fatullah Model Police Station.
His son, Selim Ahmed Dalim, a district correspondent for Dainik Bangla newspaper, shared: My father fought in the 1971 Liberation War under Sector 2. He joined the Bangladesh Army in 1971 as a sergeant and served until his retirement in 1986.
