Four Robbers, Including 27-Case Accused, Arrested

The District Detective Branch (DB-South) has arrested four members of a robbery gang in Tangail along with three stolen motorcycles. The arrested are active members of an inter-district motorcycle robbery gang on the North Bengal-Dhaka highway. Additional Superintendent of Police (DSB) Abdullah Al Mamun confirmed the matter at a press conference at the Tangail Police Superintendent's conference room on Thursday (December 26) afternoon.

The arrested are - Al Amin (27), son of the deceased Abdul Jalil of Dakshin Thanapara in Tangail city, Raihan Ahmed Lijon (28), son of Nurul Islam of Singair village in Kalihati upazila, and Hasan (26), son of Mojibal Haque of Bizbag village in Senbag upazila of Noakhali, and Ashraf Hossain (25), son of the deceased Anwar Hossain of the same village. Among them, Al Amin has 27 cases of various crimes in different police stations. There are also several cases of theft, robbery and robbery in different police stations against others.

Additional Superintendent of Police (DSB) Abdullah Al Mamun said that when Noman Sheikh, a motorcycle driver from Mohammadpur in Dhaka to Bogra, reached Kandila in Tangail on the North Bengal-Dhaka highway on November 14, two motorcycles came from behind and attacked him. The attackers injured him and stole the motorcycle worth 297,000 taka and took it towards North Bengal.

Noman Sheikh filed a case in this regard at Tangail Sadar Police Station. Based on the case, the aforementioned were arrested after raids were conducted in Kalihati and Mirzapur upazilas of Tangail and various places in Cox's Bazar and Noakhali districts. The accused were remanded for further interrogation (remand) for 10 days and the arrested were presented in court. The court granted Al Amin three more days of questioning (remand) and Raihan Ahmed Lijon two more days.
