Cancer afflicted Rupkatha wants to live

Three-year-old Rupkotha used to be full of laughter and joy, keeping her entire family and relatives cheerful. Now, she lies silently in a hospital bed, struggling with pain. Her tiny body is connected to various medical devices as she battles the deadly disease neuroblastoma cancer.

At this tender age, Rupkotha has to fight for her life daily. She undergoes regular chemotherapy. Rupkotha dreams of recovering, living a healthy life, and growing up under the love and care of her parents like other children. However, poverty has become a significant obstacle to her treatment. Due to a lack of funds, her chemotherapy is on the verge of being stopped.

Rupkotha is the daughter of Liton Kumar Ghosh and Padma Rani Ghosh from Rupali, Bandar, Narayanganj. Her father, Liton Kumar Ghosh, is not financially well-off and works at a private organization with a modest salary.

Rupkotha’s mother, Padma Rani Ghosh, shared that five months ago, Rupkotha started experiencing severe pain in her abdomen and legs. They consulted several doctors in Narayanganj, but her condition did not improve. Finally, doctors advised them to take her to Dhaka. Following this advice, Rupkotha was admitted to Dhanmondi Square Hospital under the care of Dr. Ahmed Said in September.

Later, Dr. Said referred her to Dr. Mahmuda Zaman at the same hospital. After various tests, Rupkotha was diagnosed with neuroblastoma cancer. Since then, she has been undergoing chemotherapy and other treatments as per the doctor’s advice at Square Hospital.

In October, in a desperate bid to save their child, her parents took her to Tata Memorial Hospital and Apollo in Chennai, India. However, they had to return due to the high cost of treatment. Since then, her parents have been fighting tirelessly to arrange funds for her treatment.

They have exhausted all their savings, sold off their precious gold jewelry, and spent around 1.3 million BDT on Rupkotha's treatment. Now, they are nearly destitute. The family needs a significant amount of money to continue her treatment and give her a chance to recover.

Rupkotha’s distressed father, Liton Kumar Ghosh, said, “I don’t know how I’ll arrange the money for her treatment. We are poor and helpless. Perhaps we cannot gather such a large sum, but we cannot lose our precious little daughter.”

Currently, Rupkotha’s helpless parents are seeking help from generous and affluent individuals in society to save their child’s life.
