Stocks rebound on both bourses

After witnessing a downward trend in the four sessions, stocks today rebounded in the Dhaka and Chittagong stock exchanges as investors remained active on sector-wise issues. 

After witnessing volatility, DSEX, the prime index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), went up by 2.73 points or 0.04 per cent to settle at 6,224.47. The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) advanced 0.59 point to close at 1,350.59. However, the DSE 30 Index, comprising blue chips, closed the day 1.21 points down at 2,103.20.

Gainers took a strong lead over the losers, as out of 319 issues traded, 100 advanced, 33 declined and 186 issues remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor. 

However, daily trade turnover increased to Taka 4,095.86 million on the country's premier bourse, which was Taka 3,454.13 million at the previous session of the week. 

FUWANGCER dominated the turnover chart, followed by CENTRALPHL, YPL, KPPL and PDL. 

KPPL was the day's top gainer, rising 9.05 per cent, while KBPPWBIL was the worst loser, shedding 5.60 per cent. 

The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also rebounded with the CSE All Share Price Index - CASPI -gaining 4.48 points to settle at 18,473.77 and the Selective Categories Index - CSCX rising 2.21 points to close at 11,048.57. 

Of the issues traded, 31 declined, 44 advanced and 67 issues remained unchanged on the CSE. 

The port city's bourse traded 36.56 lakh shares and mutual fund units with turnover value of Taka 7.35 crore.
