Tourism Malaysia has launched a robust promotion for the 'visit Malaysia 2026 campaign' at the 20th Dhaka travel mart (DTM) 2025 in Bangladesh. The event, which runs from 6 to 8 February, marks Malaysia's 13th participation in DTM since its inception in 2002.

A Malaysian delegation, consisting of tour operators, airline representatives, and organizations such as Education Malaysia Global Services (EMGS) and KPJ Healthcare Berhad, is intensifying efforts to promote Malaysian tourism to the Bangladeshi market. With growing demand for alternative travel experiences, Malaysia is diversifying its tourism offerings to attract different types of travelers, including those seeking medical, educational, and ecotourism opportunities.

Datuk Manoharan Periasamy, Director-General of Tourism Malaysia, highlighted Bangladesh as a crucial market for Malaysian tourism. He expressed Tourism Malaysia’s commitment to strengthening its presence and collaborating with industry stakeholders to drive the visit Malaysia 2026 campaign in the region.

Tourism Malaysia’s participation in DTM 2025 serves as a strategic platform to enhance Malaysia’s profile, showcase its unique tourism attractions, and foster stronger ties with Bangladeshi travel partners. A key feature of the event is the pre-arranged business-to-business (B2B) session, designed to facilitate new collaborations and deepen engagement between Malaysian and Bangladeshi travel businesses.

In 2024, Malaysia recorded 25,016,698 international tourist arrivals, including 143,919 from Bangladesh. For 2025, Malaysia targets 31.3 million international arrivals, with an expected RM125.5 billion in tourism revenue. To further streamline travel, visa applications for Malaysia can now be processed online through the eVISA system. In terms of connectivity, 42 direct flights operate weekly between Dhaka and Malaysia, offering 9,638 seats via Malaysia Airlines, Batik Air, AirAsia, Biman Bangladesh Airlines, and US-Bangla Airlines.

Dhaka Travel Mart 2025, organized by The Bangladesh Monitor, is Bangladesh’s largest travel fair and has been held since 2002. It attracts approximately 20,000 visitors, including trade representatives and industry professionals. Tourism Malaysia’s continued participation in the event underscores its dedication to promoting Malaysia as a preferred destination for Bangladeshi travelers.
