SME Foundation and foodpanda host skill development workshop for small entrepreneurs

SME Foundation in collaboration with food and grocery delivery platform  foodpanda organized a workshop recently aiming to support and boost skills of  small and medium-sized entrepreneurs (SMEs) in transitioning from social media commerce to larger online marketplaces.

Around Forty entrepreneurs, primarily women, selling homemade products such as cakes, pithas, frozen foods, ghee, sweets, and ice cream through online platforms like Facebook,  took part at the workshop and explored ways to scale their businesses by joining major online marketplaces.

Sirajul Haque, Head of Sales at foodpanda conducted the workshop held at the SME Foundation office in Agargaon in the city and discussed the steps entrepreneurs can take to join these platforms and the strategic changes needed in their operations to succeed in the competitive digital commerce landscape.

This initiative aimed to provide SMEs with the essential tools and insights to expand their reach, streamline their services, and explore new growth opportunities through leveraging the online marketplaces such as foodpanda.

The participants  also discussed various challenges and opportunities of online business and appreciated the organizers for arranging the workshop for skill development.

In his address, Anwar Hossain Chowdhury, Managing Director of SME Foundation, highlighted  the changing business landscape, stating, “Business has undergone significant transformation, with today’s generation increasingly relying on online platforms for their purchases. While it’s crucial for business owners to adapt to this trend, ensuring a smooth and efficient delivery process is vital for long-term success. He also thanked foodpanda for empowering aspiring entrepreneurs and SMEs, acknowledging its contribution to the country’s economic growth.”

Among others, Salahuddin Mahmud, Deputy Managing Director of SME Foundation; Farzana Khan, General Manager; Mostafizur Rahman, Assistant General Manager; and Afifa Sultana, Public Relations Lead at foodpanda were present at the workshop.
