After witnessing a downward trend in the last two sessions, the country's premier bourse, Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), today rebounded as investors remained active on sector-wise issues.
After witnessing volatility, DSEX, the prime index of the DSE, went up by 18.98 points or 0.34 per cent to settle at 5,658.12. DSE Shariah Index (DSES) also closed the day with 9.15 points up at 1,271.09. But, the DSE 30 Index, comprising blue chips, closed the day with 2 points down at 2,062.93.
However, daily trade turnover plunged to Tk 4,813.19 million on the country's premier bourse which was Tk 5,308.59 million at the previous session of the week.
Out of 397 issues traded, 153 advanced, 205 declined and 39 issues remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.
GP dominated the turnover chart, closely followed by ISLAMIBANK, BRACBANK, MJLBD and SIBL.
KBPPWBIL was the day's top gainer, rising 9.63 per cent, while KTL was the worst loser, shedding 16.54 per cent.
The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) closed the day of the week with a downward trend with its major CASPI 27.37 points down at 15,765.86.
At the CSE, 206 issues were traded. Of those, 75 closed higher and 114 closed lower when 30.39 lakh shares worth about Taka 8.76 crore changed hands.
