Stocks today witnessed flat as the major indices of the both Dhaka and Chittagong stock exchanges showed no significant rise amid lower activities of large-cap securities.
DSEX, the benchmark index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), went up by 0.96 point to settle at 6,261.99. The DS30 Index, which consists of blue-chip companies, also advanced 0.24 point to 2,099.45 and the DSES index, which represents Shariah-based companies, advanced 0.73 point to 1,367.44.
Turnover, the crucial indicator of the market, increased to Taka 6,894.38 million which was Taka 5,218.48 million at the previous session of the week.
Out of 346 issues traded, 83 declined, 85 advanced and 178 remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.
NCCBLMF1 was the top gainer, posting a 10 per cent gain while EMERALDOIL was the day's worst loser, losing 5.30 per cent following its corporate declarations.
The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) closed the day of the week with slightly upward trend with its major CASPI 8.33 points up at 18,571.73.
At CSE, 198 issues were traded. Of those, 47 closed higher and 52 closed lower when 65.65 lakh shares worth Taka 18.31 crore changed hands.
