Stocks today witnessed upward trend as major indices of both Dhaka and Chittagong Stock Exchanges were found rising with higher activities of some large-cap securities.
DSEX, the prime index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), went up by 3.98 points or 0.06 per cent to settle at 6,266.85. Two other indices also ended higher with the DSE 30 Index, comprising blue chips, rose 1.69 point to finish at 2,107.12 and the DSE Shariah Index (DSES) advanced 1.64 point to close at 1,364.66.
At DSE, out of the day's 338 securities, prices of 63 securities closed higher against 111 losing issues.
The day's trade value at the DSE decreased to Taka 4,811.39 million which was Taka 7,696.86 million at the previous session of the week.
The major gaining issues were 1STPRIMFMF, KBPPWBIL, PDL, UNIONCAP and AZIZPIPES while the major losing companies were AMBEEPHA, SINOBANGLA, SONARGAON, ANLIMAYARN and RAHIMTEXT.
The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) closed the day of the week with an upward trend with its major CASPI 15.30 points up at 18,583.23.
At the CSE, 169 issues were traded. Of those, 38 closed higher and 53 closed lower when 49.95 lakh shares worth Taka 10.75 crore changed hands.
